Service

District 58 Area 59 AA has been providing services to alcoholics for over 30 years. Our district provides services that are beyond the scope of individual meetings and in many areas are handled by Intergroup. Our district does not belong to an Intergroup so those responsibilities fall our our district.

Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Why service?

Our Twelfth Step—carrying the message—is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die.
